April: Volunteer Appreciation Month – Highlighting Our Marketing & Development Interns
Meet Vivian
Meet Vivian Windsor, a senior student at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). Interning here has been an extension of her passion for bringing people together.
Vivian is completing her Bachelor of Science in Business Psychology with a minor in Law and Society. She is also a member of Women in Business and serves as co-president of Triton Tide, the university’s official sports marketing club. For Vivian, interning at The Arc was driven by a lifelong interest in connection and belonging. She was drawn to the organization because its values aligned so closely with her own, offering a professional opportunity that felt like a perfect fit from the start.
Vivian describes her experience at The Arc in three words: purposeful, community, and growth. What has stood out to her most is the empowering and supportive work culture. As she shares, “The empowering work culture and supportive environment invites creative collaboration.” It is the kind of space where new ideas are not just welcomed but actively encouraged to help the organization thrive. This sense of unity has made her volunteer work feel impactful and personally rewarding.
When she isn't busy with her studies or her internship, Vivian loves to read, whether it’s a new book, news article, or academic research. She also stays active by working out, watching sports, and spending quality time with her friends.
We are very fortunate to have you, Vivian!
Meet Guadalupe
The Arc of San Diego thrives on the energy of people who are passionate about community and support. For Guadalupe Ortiz, a recent graduate from California State University San Marcos, joining the team as a marketing and development intern was a way to bridge her professional goals with a mission that hits close to home. Since starting her internship, she has become a committed member of our team, assisting with projects that help the organization grow and reach new audiences.
After graduating with a degree in Communications in May 2025, Guadalupe was eager to find a role where she could put her education into practice. She has always been drawn to marketing because of its power to help organizations share their missions with the world. While searching for internship opportunities, she discovered The Arc of San Diego. Being someone with a physical disability, she felt a deep connection to The Arc and the way it supports the community.
Guadalupe describes her time at The Arc as insightful, supportive, and rewarding. She has particularly enjoyed the chance to expand her professional skills while knowing her daily work directly helps those around her. She has embraced every opportunity to learn and grow her skills, and takes pride in being a teammate people can depend on—if someone has too much on their plate, Guadalupe is the first to step in and help make things easier.
When she isn’t helping the team at The Arc, Guadalupe loves watching movies and she is also a passionate NFL fan, rooting for the Philadelphia Eagles. For Guadalupe, no matter where she is, it’s always about building connections and being there to help others.
Thank you for all you do at The Arc of San Diego!
