Safe and reliable transportation is an essential part of our services. It allows our clients to access employment opportunities, attend medical appointments, and participate in community activities. For many, transportation means freedom, dignity, and the chance to truly live.
For Shawn Harrigan, a wheelchair-accessible van changed everything. At 55, Shawn lives with cerebral palsy and epilepsy. Before having access to a wheelchair-accessible van, his world was limited. Outings were rare, and plans were often canceled. But everything changed when Shawn gained access to reliable transportation. Now Shawn enjoys visits to his favorite stores, strolls through the park, and active participation in programs at The Arc’s North County Center. For Shawn, transportation didn’t just improve mobility; it restored independence, nurtured dreams, and transformed his life.
Unfortunately, we continue to face the challenge of an aging fleet that is costly to maintain. When one of our vans breaks down, the impact on our clients can be significant. Although we receive state funding, no monies are available for capital equipment purchases. That’s why we need your help. Your donation will help us acquire new vans to provide reliable transportation, reduce maintenance costs, and enhance safety.
