ABOUT ARC  NORTH COUNTY

At Arc North County, we serve adults 22 years and older and provide three day programs according to each person's individual needs. We currently serve 60 consumers in our day programs and 92 consumers in our production center. The day programs include on-site and community-based experiences as well as vocational development and work opportunities. Our services include individual assessment, instruction, and ongoing support. Each program is designed to assist individuals in acquiring or maintaining self-help skills that enable them to be more independent, achieve their personal goals, and/or develop their participation in the community.

The Adult Development Center (ADC) is geared to provide services for people with disabilities that may need more assistance with personal hygiene, mobility, social, safety, and communication skills. There is one instructor for every four participants (1:4) and a typical day includes a morning social time, sensory room activities, gardening, computer, art, music, and cooking classes. This group also goes into the community at least two hours each week with an aide to assist with community skills.

The Community Based Program (CBP) takes people into the community for the majority of the day where they learn vital skills such as using public transportation, developing shopping skills,  volunteering at nonprofits and/or working in their local area.

The Senior Program promotes healthy living and provides ongoing support in the area of nutrition and physical exercise. We tailor our services to meet the individual needs and wants of our seniors with community outings to museums, casinos, shopping locations, senior centers, restaurants, day trips, and volunteering opportunities. All outings are based on the interests and desires of the people we service.

One of the highlights of Arc North County is our intergenerational program with Pacific Ridge School in Carlsbad. This program helps both school students and Arc consumers learn from each other.

The Arc of San Diego is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer. All participants will receive consideration for employment without regard to their race, color, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, pregnancy, national origin, veteran, ancestry, age, religion, disability, citizenship status or any other group protected by the law.
