Gift will support vital services for individuals with disabilities in South Bay

SAN DIEGO, CALIF. – The Knights of Columbus Council #7903 at St. Charles Catholic Parish in Imperial Beach, California presented a check for $392 to benefit individuals with disabilities at The Arc of San Diego. This gift was presented at The Arc of San Diego’s Chula Vista location, The Sol and Ruth Gerber Family Center. The funds were raised by the Knights of Columbus and its volunteers during their annual “Campaign for People with Intellectual Disabilities.” This campaign is also referred to as the “Tootsie Roll Drive,” because donors are provided with a Tootsie Roll when they make a donation.

The Arc of San Diego provides essential life services such as day programs, employment, and residential living services to more than 2,000 children and adults with disabilities in San Diego County annually. The funding from the Knights of Columbus will assist in supporting these services.

“We appreciate this generous donation from the Knights of Columbus,” said Anthony J. DeSalis, Esq., President and CEO of The Arc of San Diego. “Thank you to the Knights of Columbus and the parishioners at St. Charles Catholic Parish for their efforts in supporting individuals with disabilities. These funds will help support the services we provide.”

“The Arc of San Diego does important work for our community and I am grateful we could help contribute to
their work. We are thankful for Pastor, Rev. Father Emilio Magaña and his support of our parish,” said Joe
Bajo, Grand Knight with Knights of Columbus Council #7903, St. Charles Catholic Parish in Imperial Beach,
California. “Thank you to our parishioners, this gift would not have been possible without their generous
donations. Together, we can continue creating a positive impact on people with disabilities.”

The Knights of Columbus has more than 16,000 councils in Catholic parishes throughout the world. Annually
they contribute $200 million to charitable organizations worldwide and members donate 100 million hours of service each year.

The Arc of San Diego is the largest, most comprehensive service provider for people with disabilities in San
Diego County, serving over 2,000 children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities such as
