The Knights of Columbus Raises Funds for The Arc of San Diego

Knights Of Columbus Thank You

Gift will support vital services for individuals with disabilities at The Arc of San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CALIF. – The Knights of Columbus Council #7903 at St. Charles Catholic Parish in Imperial Beach, California presented a check for $567 to benefit individuals with disabilities at The Arc of San Diego. This gift was presented at The Arc of San Diego’s Chula Vista location, The Sol and Ruth Gerber Family Center. The funds were raised by The Knights of Columbus and its volunteers during their annual “Campaign for People with Intellectual Disabilities” to support The Arc of San Diego. This campaign is also referred to as the “Tootsie Roll Drive,” because each donor is offered a piece of candy, most commonly a Tootsie Roll, for their donation.

The Arc of San Diego provides essential life services such as day programs, employment, and residential living services to more than 2,000 children and adults with disabilities in San Diego County annually. The funding from The Knights of Columbus will assist with these services.

“We greatly appreciate this generous support from The Knights of Columbus,” said Anthony J. DeSalis, Esq., President & CEO of The Arc of San Diego. “Thank you to the Knights of Columbus and parishioners at St. Charles Catholic Church  for assisting in our efforts to support individuals with disabilities to live their most fulfilling lives.”

"I am beyond grateful that we could contribute to the important work of The Arc of San Diego. We are thankful to our Pastor, Rev. Father Emilio Magaña for his support of our parish,” said Joe Bajo, Grand Knight with Knights of Columbus Council #7903, St. Charles Catholic Parish in Imperial Beach, California. “Thank you to our parishioners for their generous donations that make this gift possible. Together, we will continue empowering people with disabilities and raising awareness to create a more inclusive world.”

The Knights of Columbus has more than 16,000 councils in Catholic parishes throughout the world. Annually they contribute $200 million to charitable organizations worldwide and members donate 100 million hours of service each year.
