Imperial Beach City Council Announces Proclamation that April is National Autism Awareness Month
On April 1, 2026, the Imperial Beach City Council proclaimed April as National Autism Awareness Month during their meeting, recognizing the importance of increasing understanding and inclusion for individuals with autism and their families.
National Autism Awareness Month is observed each April to bring attention to autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and to highlight the strengths, abilities, and contributions of people on the spectrum. The proclamation encourages the community to support acceptance and opportunities for individuals with autism.
Staff, clients, and family members of The Arc of San Diego were present to be recognized as leaders in the community. We thankful to the Imperial Beach City Council for acknowledging this important month and for supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Local proclamations like this help promote awareness and reinforce the value of inclusive communities.
The Arc of San Diego remains committed to advancing dignity, opportunity, and inclusion for people with autism year‑round.
