In the bustling corridors of The Arc of San Diego’s Sulpizio Family Center, Marilyn's presence shines brightly to all who cross her path. As the Administrative Assistant at this vital hub of support, Marilyn plays a crucial role in ensuring that over 150 individuals with disabilities receive the care and attention they deserve every single day.

Since joining The Arc of San Diego in 2021, Marilyn has become an integral part of the organization. Reflecting on her early days, Marilyn recalls the overwhelming sense of welcome she felt from both clients and staff alike. For Marilyn, each day begins with a smile, as she greets every individual with genuine warmth and compassion.

Marilyn's journey to The Arc of San Diego is one marked by a desire to make a difference. Initially learning about the open position through her career counselor assisting her with transitioning to civilian work, Marilyn seized the opportunity to become part of an organization dedicated to serving individuals with disabilities. Marilyn embraced her role wholeheartedly, quickly gaining insight into the challenges they face and the importance of providing unwavering support.

For Marilyn, the true fulfillment lies in the daily interactions she shares with clients and their families. A compassionate listener, Marilyn takes joy in learning about the aspirations and triumphs of those she serves. She finds immense satisfaction in witnessing individuals with disabilities achieve their goals, no matter how big or small.

Reflecting on her time at The Arc of San Diego, Marilyn expresses gratitude to be part of a compassionate and supportive community.

“My supervisor supports me in many ways. She is always willing to share her wisdom on how to navigate certain situations and I am very blessed to learn from her,” said Marilyn. “The Arc of San Diego even offers programs that help employees balance their work and personal lives. It is a great place to work!”
