THE ARC OF SAN DIEGO RECEIVES $40,000 GRANT FROM SUPERVISOR GREG COX & COUNTY OF SAN DIEGO

SAN DIEGO, CALIF. – The Arc of San Diego is pleased to announce they have been awarded a $40,000 grant from Supervisor Greg Cox and the San Diego County Board of Supervisors.  This funding will allow Arc to purchase a van with wheelchair accessibility for use at their Arrow Center in central San Diego.

“I am proud to assist The Arc of San Diego as they strive to provide reliable and effective transportation for people with disabilities,” said Supervisor Cox.  “This funding will ensure that those served at Arrow Center will be able to continue participating in activities throughout the community.”

The grant was allocated from the county’s Community projects grant program.  Individuals in Arc’s day programs, community employment groups, and senior programs will benefit from this funding.  They will be traveling to and from their work sites and volunteer jobs as well as recreation opportunities such as shopping excursions and trips to restaurants.

“The Arc of San Diego greatly appreciates Supervisor Greg Cox’s partnership in enhancing the services that we provide,” said C.E. Skip Covell, President & CEO, The Arc of San Diego.  “On behalf of everyone we serve, thank you for your support and your commitment to improving the quality of life for those with disabilities.”

The Arc of San Diego was founded in 1951 by parents concerned about the lack of services for children with mental retardation.  Arc directly impacts the lives of more than 2,000 children and adults with disabilities throughout San Diego County.
