THE ARC OF SAN DIEGO RECEIVES $40,000 GRANT FROM CHAIRMAN BILL HORN & COUNTY OF SAN DIEGO SAN DIEGO, CALIF. – The Arc of San Diego has been awarded a $40,000 grant from 5th District Supervisor, and Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, Bill Horn and the San Diego County Board of Supervisors. The funding will allow Arc to purchase a van with wheelchair accessibility for use at their North County Rex Industries center in San Marcos. The Arc of San Diego was founded in 1951 by parents concerned about the lack of services for children with developmental disabilities. Arc directly impacts the lives of more than 2,500 children and adults with disabilities throughout San Diego County. “I am pleased to partner with The Arc of San Diego in providing reliable transportation to people with disabilities,” said Chairman Horn. “The funding for this van will ensure that these individuals are able to participate in activities in our community.” The grant was allocated from Chairman Horn’s discretionary Community Projects Grant program. Individuals in Arc’s day programs and senior programs will benefit from this funding as they pursue their individual goals in the community, including employment opportunities and recreational activities. “The Arc of San Diego greatly appreciates Chairman Bill Horn’s partnership in enhancing the services that we provide,” said C.E. Skip Covell, President & CEO, The Arc of San Diego. “The van will be serving people with disabilities in North County and we are grateful for your support and commitment to improve the quality of life for those with disabilities.” For more information on The Arc of San Diego, please call (858) 715-3780 or log onto www.arc-sd.com. # # # |
